Holistic branding is about connecting the power of an individual story with the strength of value-based messaging and strategic design. We build brands, online experiences, and creative collateral that are a JOY to use because we pay attention to the people who will be using them.
East & Eve’s unique strategic process is guided by psychology, marketing theory, and an intuitive desire to deeply understand our clients. Our approach prioritizes spending 1:1 time with each client, leaning into the “why” behind the business, and finding meaningful ways to inject every brand we touch with personality and style that is irresistable to the RIGHT people.
Hi! I’m Madeline. I’m a self-taught designer (and overall creative human) with a bachelor of science in psychology & gender studies from the University of Toronto. I spent the first five years of my career freelancing on the weekends, while working my 9-5 corporate creative jobs where I did a little bit of everything: graphic design, animation, photography, writing, social media and video production. Now I live in Saint John, New Brunswick with my fiancé - and our two rescue kitties, June & Sunnie - doing what I LOVE every single day. Coming from an untraditional design background has taught me the importance of the journey, and mine was always leading me here. I believe that branding is an incredible storytelling tool, and I adore crafting intentional, purpose-driven branding for woman-owned businesses and entrepreneurs ready to explore their potential.
In 2020, during the middle of a global pandemic, my partner and I made a spontaneous move from the land-locked province we had grown up in to the east coast of Canada. We left our life (and our nearly windowless basement apartment in downtown Toronto) and found ourselves living in the middle of the woods, near the Bay of Fundy. This move might be the most important choice I ever made. Leaving my comfort zone allowed for creativity, spontaneity, and so much growth which ultimately led me to founding my design studio after leaving my corporate job. My relationship with creativity blossomed surrounded by the clean air, trees, and ocean. This where East comes from.
Eve is inspired by my father, being raised by a single mum, and the incredible people I work with through this business. In 2019, my dad passed away from a fatal fentanyl overdose after a lifetime of battling addiction. Losing him so suddenly changed my entire perspective on life. My dad’s name is Adam. Eve is an ode to my father, his name, and the legacy that he left in his two daughters. It's also related to the clients I serve. Women. People who are daring, curious, and never satisfied existing within the rules laid out before them - the world-changers and challengers.
Together, East & Eve symbolizes the unstoppable power of a person with a desire to change their life and the world for the better.
Because that’s how we roll.
We’ve got to know the full story to draw a full picture.
You can share the good, the bad, and the ugly - the story of your business is safe with us. And we believe it’ll help us build an incredible brand together.
This will always be a judgement-free space to share.
Representation in media matters - and we love
creating with brands that are prioritizing diversity and
inclusivity in their work. The world is a kinder place when everyone feels accepted as a whole person.
It’s important to us that you feel seen, heard, and welcomed.
We believe that the best ideas are born out of
creative collaboration. We want your brand to benefit from all that greatness.
Our design process is built to encourage the sharing of ideas, and open (and candid!) communication between client & designer.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and a memorable brand isn’t either. It takes time AND consistency to get there.
We support our clients by offering continued access to client check-ins post-launch, extra flexible payment plans, “after-dark” meeting options twice a week, and brand implementation assistance.
We know that “just a logo” can’t compete with emotion-packed power and cohesiveness of a full brand identity, and that’s why we don’t do them. The work we do involves hours of 1:1 strategy and weeks of research, concept exploration, and creative direction development. When we design a logo - we also want to create the assets, values, and messaging you’ll need to share your brand (in-person and online) with the world for years to come.
We're all about making your business dreams come true. Whether you identify as woman, a man, or a non-binary person; if we can help make the day to day running of a company easier with our design expertise - then that's what we want for everyone! That said, about 70% of our clients are woman-owned businesses or woman-identifying entrepreneurs, and we couldn’t be more happy to support women chasing their dreams.
Absolutely. We offer really flexible payment plans - and have made our own business decisions around the fact that we ALWAYS want to offer them. There are so many barriers to success for women and non-binary folks navigating entrepreneurship. We want to do our part to ensure that finances don’t get in the way of professional design services being accessible.
When you book a project with us, we require a 20% non-refundable deposit to secure your spot in our calendar. We also ask that all project fees are paid before your completed deliverables are sent to you. Other than that, you can decide the frequency and amount of your installments. Our late-payment fees are hefty, but since offering flexible payment options - we’ve never had to use them!
Not usually. Our pricing allows us to be competitive in our industry, accounts for the years of experience we bring to the table, and allows us some wiggle room to donate to causes we believe in. Sometimes we will offer adjusted project pricing to fill a last minute availability in our calendar - and these availabilities are posted on our Instagram if they ever come up!
You need an established business or a business idea, and a budget! You will also need to be available for occasional video calls and quick email responses during our project to ensure there are no delays. For website projects, we highly recommend you plan a branding photoshoot before your website launches if you do not have original photos. But don’t stress - we have loads of photographer recommendations for you. We look to work with entrepreneurs who are super passionate about what they do, with a desire to improve their industries for the better. We love working with businesses that have sustainability, diversity, reconciliation, or environmental goals, no matter how big or small!
We ask all potential clients to fill out a project application because of the bespoke nature our work. Everyone is different, and the application gives us basic information so we can show up to our first call together prepared and ready to brainstorm! It’s also a security measure. We deeply care about keeping your information secure, safe, and confidential.
Launches can be so stressful, and sometimes a client comes into our life who is on a tight deadline. If our schedule allows, we are happy to complete the project early. Last-minute timeline adjustments that require us to deliver the project early must always be approved by us in writing, and a 15% rush fee may be applicable.
We’re grateful to be a busy agency, and we tend to schedule our projects at least 3 months in advance. If you’re thinking about inquiring to work together - don’t be afraid to reach out! We’d love to meet you, answer any questions you might have for us, and allow you to get a #vibecheck so you feel ready and confident to book when the time comes!
Not at the moment. We are happy to share our expertise and insights through a brand consulting call, at an hourly rate of $200/hour. In the future, we hope to offer paid internships at East and Eve Creative Co. for up-and-coming designers, strategists, and creative people interested in our line of work! If you are interested in a brand consulting call, please fill out a project application or email us at email@example.com.
Yes! All of our web projects include basic SEO support to help you rank on Google. We do keyword research which informs our copywriting, and always have the most amount of fun writing your webpage titles and meta descriptions. We’ll also always urge you to optimize your website photos (by-naming-them-like-this.jpg) before adding them into your website!
That said, if you are looking for more strategic or technical SEO support, you may need to work with someone who exclusively focuses on SEO.
Please reach out to us anyway! You can send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with as much detail as you can provide (don’t be afraid to brain dump!!) and we’ll plan a call to discuss your ideas and how we can work together. If we feel your project isn’t a good fit for us, we will happily provide you with a list of creative service-providers we think are the cat’s pajamas.
